ua-cam.com/video/tkHW7SZIu20/v-deo.html a really great live version of this song, if you can deal with fan recordings. watch it for fun. the guitar work from brian...fantastic. (he also shines on 'the fire'), same show. I would love to know what you think of it. for better quality live, check out jimmy kimmel live where they do this one and 'the fire', and the latter is HOT (sorry). seriously shows audience appreciation. i could go on about my twigs. i just want you to know, i've listened to a lot of music (i'm 68). i know what talent and freshness can produce. the Lemon Twigs. thank you for reacting. really you should do jimmy kimmel for a live reaction of both. no, seriously. you'll be glad. take care. ps. at the beginning, to the left of your screen (kimmel's right), you'll see Jonathan Rado and his wife Jackie Cohen. Both accomplished musicians in their own right, and Rado, to paraphrase, is the most in demand indie producer out there. he produced and worked with them on 'do hollywood' among other things. he also recently worked with 'the killers'.

I saw them in a theatre in Kansas City in the early 80s. It was a fantastic, energetic show. After the concert we went to a club, and who should show up but the band. An epic night!

The song doesn't tell the story correctly. The governor called out the National Guard when the violence started, and young people didn't understand during Martial Law, the individuals rights do not supercede the military authority. Had they obeyed the law, the students would not have been in jeopardy. Normally Martially Law is called out during storms to stop looting and protect the people. Governor Rhodes really panicked to have them on the college (Kent State). The students didn't understand that civil liberties are removed during Martial Law. It was a terrible and unnecessary loss of life.

I was in England in the 70's. Took a trip into London to a record store. I bought Wishbone Ash Argus and Pilgrimage. Wishbone Ash is one of the best bands of their time and still to this day. Sometime World is phenomenal and feeds my soul. It's hard to describe how it completely takes me over.

Harry, this is the first time I have seen any of your videos - I found it by searching reaction videos for the song itself. Bless you for your appreciation and insight into the impact of this legendary piece of music.I just love that you stood up and applauded at the end! I bought this as a single way back in 1976 and the time the notable thing was that even though pop singles were mostly created around the commercial and broadcast-friendly template of 3 minutes, DJ's still nearly always played the full single without an early fade out because of the quality of the song. That universally true statement of music being my first love and last and being unable to live without music is a belief that will never die. It may just be the most perfectly conceived and executed pop single of all time, combining elements of pop, rock and classical music so forcefully and beautifully. An Opera indeed , as you say! You should check out the b-side of the single, "Putting My New Song Together", which is also a passionately crafted piece about the agony of creating and finishing a song from the musician's point of view. ua-cam.com/video/w6KDTL8tYpA/v-deo.html

Ted Neely was in his early twenties when he performed in this rock opera. Still to this day if you Google him here in UA-cam or even Facebook, Ted is still performing this part in Italy yearly. His voice is just as strong and still very gripping to listen to. A great person too meet and even great to have a conversation with. I have a long with most of the cast from the movie. All except for Carl Anderson, Judas and The gentlemen who played King Herod. Ted also tours the US with some of the cast from "Jesus Christ Superstar", anniversary tours.

My Dad was in this band and is on this recording. He was Bobby the high tenor. This song charted nationally reaching #1 in some local markets and they toured the country and he met so many famous artists and did numerous TV shows for Alan Freed and the likes. They didn’t make shit for money but it changed my Dad’s life and the life of all the guys. In fact they were the last band of that era to sport all original members live, in 2018. My Dad was ill but still flew 2500 miles to do the show and once he got up on stage all the illness disappeared and he was a Mystic again having a great time. That’s the power of the music.

In Fire and Rain, James Taylor sings that there were times when he "couldn't find a friend". So Carol King wrote his song as a direct response. So, he didn't really cover it, it's 'his song', even if he didn't write it.

The Band was Chicago Transit Authority and the 1st album was CTA. I was 18 and a brass musician and just loved and always will the Band. Under the threat of a lawsuit from the ( transport company ) “CHICAGO Transit Authority” they changed their name to simply Chicago. Fantastic Album.. a few covers but a real treat.
